Amethyst with Agate Inclusion Tower

This striking amethyst tower features soft lavender tones blended with milky quartz and a captivating central inclusion of natural agate. The polished point shape contrasts beautifully with the raw internal textures, creating a unique display piece full of depth and organic character. The internal formation reveals layered, semi-translucent structures typical of agate, forming a natural focal point within the crystal.

Geological & Scientific Notes
Amethyst is a variety of quartz that forms in cavities within volcanic rock, where silica-rich fluids slowly crystallise over time. The lighter purple tones seen in this piece suggest lower iron content and more subtle natural irradiation during formation.

This piece also contains agate, a banded form of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz), which formed in stages as layers of silica were deposited within the cavity. Unlike the larger crystal structure of amethyst, agate develops in fine, compact layers, often creating soft banding or cloudy, flowing patterns as seen in the central inclusion.

The presence of both amethyst and agate indicates multiple phases of mineral formation. The cavity likely began forming with chalcedony deposits before later quartz crystallisation created the amethyst structure around and within it. This combination results in a visually dynamic piece that showcases both crystalline and microcrystalline quartz in one specimen.
