Flower Agate Sphere

A beautiful Flower Agate sphere displaying suspended plume formations, orbicular chalcedony structures, soft cream and blush tones, and delicate flower-like inclusions naturally formed within translucent agate.

This piece features classic “flower” plumes scattered throughout the sphere, alongside subtle chalcedony banding and semi-translucent quartz-rich zones that glow beautifully under light.

Overview

Flower Agate is a variety of chalcedony and agate composed primarily of microcrystalline quartz.

The distinctive flower-like structures visible throughout this sphere are caused by plume inclusions and botryoidal chalcedony growth that formed naturally inside silica-rich cavities during crystallisation.

This sphere shows excellent suspended floral structures with soft cream, peach, and pale pink colouring against translucent chalcedony zones, creating depth and movement throughout the piece.

Geological & Scientific Notes

Flower Agate forms through silica deposition within volcanic cavities where layers of chalcedony gradually crystallise over time.

The “flowers” are not actual fossilised flowers or organic material — they are plume inclusions and botryoidal chalcedony growth structures formed naturally as mineral-rich silica solutions crystallised.

The rounded white and cream formations seen in this sphere developed from repeated silica precipitation, producing concentric growth textures and flower-like patterns.

Some sections also display translucent chalcedony zones and subtle internal fracturing typical of natural agate formation.

Why This Piece Stands Out

• Strong suspended floral plume formations

• Excellent orbicular and botryoidal growth textures

• Soft pastel cream and peach colouring

• Semi-translucent chalcedony throughout

• Natural depth and layered silica structures

• Highly polished display-quality sphere

Care & Handling

Flower Agate is a durable quartz-based material suitable for regular handling and display.

• Clean using warm water and a soft cloth

• Avoid harsh chemicals or prolonged impacts

• Store carefully to preserve the polished surface

• Suitable for long-term display collections
