Moss Agate Tower — Natural Dendritic Quartz Formation (172g)

A larger statement tower featuring classic moss agate dendritic inclusions, with deep green mineral growth suspended within translucent chalcedony.

This piece shows strong branching, plant-like structures formed by manganese and iron oxide inclusions, alongside layered agate banding and multiple open drusy pockets where microcrystalline quartz has formed inside natural voids.

The contrast between darker moss zones, milky chalcedony, and sparkling druzy creates a highly textured, geological look from every angle.

Key Features

• Mineral Type: Chalcedony (SiO₂) with dendritic inclusions

• Formation: Microcrystalline quartz with mineral inclusions

• Colour: Deep green, white, grey with translucent zones

• Transparency: Translucent to opaque

• Lustre: Waxy (chalcedony) with sparkling drusy pockets

Feature Highlights

• Strong moss-like dendritic formations (iron/manganese inclusions)

• Multiple natural druzy cavities with fine quartz crystals

• Layered agate banding visible throughout

• High contrast patterning — very visual, display-focused piece

• Larger size with good presence (ideal shelf/display tower)

• Completely natural — no dye or treatment

Geological & Scientific Notes

“Moss agate” is not a true agate in the banded sense, but a variety of chalcedony containing dendritic inclusions.

These inclusions form when mineral-rich fluids carrying iron and manganese move through silica gel during formation. As the silica solidifies into chalcedony, these minerals crystallise into branching, tree-like structures.

The druzy pockets form later, when open cavities allow silica-rich fluids to deposit tiny quartz crystals lining the voids — creating the sparkling internal textures seen here.
