Geological & Scientific Notes

Amethyst forms when silica-rich fluids crystallise within cavities in volcanic rock. Over time, layers of quartz develop, with trace iron impurities giving rise to the characteristic purple coloration when exposed to natural radiation.

The druzy surface on this piece is composed of many small, euhedral crystals. These tightly packed terminations increase light reflection, producing the natural sparkle visible across the wings.
